Obituary

Wyota Louella Hannan, 95, of Colbert, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, with loving family by her side.  She was born November 13, 1930, in Colbert, Oklahoma to Lee Thomas and Annie Lois Anderson.  She was married to her husband James Hannan for 73 years before he passed away on April 8, 2020.

She loved God and was proud that she rarely missed a church service where she worshipped at the Highway 91 Church of Christ in Colbert.

She was very involved locally with the Colbert Historical Society and the Colbert Chamber of Commerce and any activity that took place in the community.  She spearheaded the Colbert Fall Festival in downtown Colbert for many years always giving recognition to special citizens who contributed to the community.  She was very involved in the Bryan County and the State Democratic Women's organization and proudly served as president of the state organization twice and served as a delegate to the Democrat National Convention three times.  Her family liked to tease her about this and were proud when she finally decided to vote "Republican".

She and her husband owned four different grocery stores over the years along with the Colbert Variety and Hardware store where all the young kids went to buy their candy and fondly remember them for supplying their favorite sweet treats.  Wyota ran the Bryan County Tag Agency which was located inside their variety store for over 20 years where she enjoyed meeting all the residents from the Bryan County area.   After selling this last business, the call to stay busy lured her to work at the Texoma Medical Center emergency room admitting, One Medical and Reba's Ranch House.

She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Gage and husband Malcolm, and Anna McKinney both of Colbert, Oklahoma. Eight Grandchildren:  Lori Sackett of Calera, Oklahoma; Stacy Anders (Michael) of Colbert, Oklahoma, Tonya Crump (Mark) of Denison; Bryce Gage (Shannon) of Marble Falls, Texas; Stephanie Carlton (Eddie) of Bokchito, Oklahoma; Erica Deweber (Shane) of Denison, Texas; Phyllis Loe (Bill) of Pottsboro, Texas and Tiffany Citty (Curtis) of Friendswood.  13 Great grandchildren and numerous great great grand kids.

Also survived by her three sisters, Sudenell Martin, Sally Moon and Annie Harrell and Sister-in-law Lydel Anderson and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, James Hannan, her son, Cecil Ray Hannan, her parents and siblings, Tommy Anderson, Lucille McDonald, Bernice Bush, Jewell Anderson and Jerry Anderson.

A friend and family visitation will be held at American Funeral Service in Colbert, Oklahoma from 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, and Funeral Service at Coleman Avenue Church of Christ on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1:00 P.M.
