Obituary

Wesley L. Sasser proceeded into the Glory of God's Presence at The Homestead of Denison, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

He was born in Whitesboro, Texas on Sunday, July 6, 1941, to James Freeman & Clarcy Mable (Ellis) Sasser.  Wesley grew up between the country towns of Whitesboro, Callisburg, and Era, before settling in Gainesville where he worked many years as a foreman in the shoe-heal factory for F. E. Schmitz. In 1986, Wesley went to work for his brother Jerry as a machinist specializing in boring engine cylinders at Triple S Engineering until he retired and moved to Denison, Texas.

The only thing that Wesley loved more than his cars, motorcycles, tractors, and guns was his family.  The family photos reminded him of this love, and he shared generously the details of each picture, person, and thing.

Wesley is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dana Sue Sasser of Denison, TX; brother, Donald Ray Sasser, his wife Linda; sister, Dorothy Reiter; son, Darrell Glen Green, his wife Lisa of Sundown, TX, daughter, Lisa Dawn Smith, her husband Gabe of Sherman, TX; grandchildren: Cody, Casey, Michael, Ashley Dawn and Garrett Kyle; great-grandchildren: Raegen, Logan, Ayden, Madison, Abby, Riley, Realynn, Sugar, Kollin, Adalie Grace, Kent Wesley, and Rowdy Dean and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who knew him as Varn or Uncle Varn.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, James Alver Sasser, and Jerry Wayne Sasser.

His family is blessed to have the guidance and care of The Homestead of Denison and Centric Hospice during his illness and any donation to either company in lieu of flowers is encouraged.

Services will include family visitation at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 22, 2024, prior to the Funeral service at 2:00 pm at American Funeral Services – 4312 W. Crawford St. – Denison, TX

1 John 3:1-2

"Look with wonder at the depth of the Father's marvelous love that he has lavished on us!

He has called us and made us his very own beloved children.

The reason the world doesn't recognize who we are is that they didn't recognize him as God Incarnate in human form.

*Beloved, we are God's children right now; however, it is not yet obvious what we will become.

But we do know that when it is finally made visible, we will be just like him, for we will see him as he truly is.

*And all who focus their hope on him will always be purifying themselves, just as Jesus is pure."
