Vonda Joy
Staton
Apr 7, 1955 — Apr 15, 2025
Denison
Vonda Joy Staton, born April 7, 1955, passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on April 15, 2025, in Denison, Texas. Born in Pikeville, Kentucky, as one of seven children, Vonda carried strength and warmth in every facet of her life. A passionate educator, she earned her master's degree in History from Texas Woman's University and dedicated her career to teaching English and History to international students at Grayson County College. Her devotion to education and cultural understanding left a lasting impression on countless students from around the globe.
Vonda married the love of her life, Charles Douglas Staton, in January of 1971. Together they built a life full of love and adventure in both Ohio and Texas, where they raised their two children, Sherri Staton Wallace and Michael Douglas Staton. Vonda cherished her role as a grandmother known loving as "Loulou", to Samantha Wallace, James Staton, Jacob Staton, and Leah Staton, and as a great-grandmother to Declan, Wells, Strider, and Dane and a cat-mom to Cali and Buddy. A lifelong learner and explorer, she filled her days with books, soap operas, puzzles, trivia, T.V., movies, and travel — from the cobblestone streets of Europe to the serene beauty of Alaska and America's national parks. Her bright spirit, sharp wit, and endless curiosity will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held at the home of her daughter, Sherri Wallace on Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at 3720 Red Oak Tr., The Colony, TX 75056.
