Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Traphena May Gibson, who left us peacefully on June 6, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on November 12, 1932, she lived a full and happy life, characterized by overflowing grace, unwavering kindness, and constant compassion.

Traphena May Gibson was a devoted wife to Kenny Ray Gibson, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. She was a nurturing mother and grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, as she spent her whole life loving, nurturing, and serving everyone she raised and cared for throughout the years.

Traphena spent most of her life in her home on Shannon Street. A small three-bedroom home with one hallway and one bathroom, their home is where her family gathered for every holiday and special occasion. When they knew company was coming, you could smell a fresh pot of beans and cornbread on the stove. When you walked in the door, you knew you'd be greeted with a gentle hug and a kiss on the cheek.

Traphena was a 50-year member of the Wood Street Church of Christ. When you saw Traphena, you saw a glimpse of Jesus. She was the most kind, gentle, gracious, loving, generous, and servant-hearted woman to everyone she met. Her legacy of living a Christ-centered life will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Traphena is survived by her husband Kenny Gibson; her children Randy (and Clare) Gibson and Alan Gibson; her grandchildren Les Paul Gibson, Jason (and Prima) Gibson, Tasha (and Chris) Schaded, Shane (and Ashley) Gibson, Ashley (and Rowdy) Neu, and Coleman Gibson; her great-grandchildren Kayla (and Brandon) Staley, Ethan (and Larissa) Schaded, Brady Gibson, Charlee Gibson, Riley Gibson, Madeline Gibson, Cali Schaded, and Connelly Neu; and her great-great-granddaughter Sage Schaded. Traphena is predeceased by her first-born son, Marty Ray Gibson. Traphena will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 10, 2024, at West Hill Cemetery Chapel.

Rest in peace, Traphena. You have left us with the purest joy and love in our hearts that we learned from you. We can all rest knowing you are with Jesus Christ in Heaven, and we cannot wait to see you again.
