Thomas Dean
Wright
Aug 28, 1947 — Apr 16, 2025
Cartwright
Thomas Dean Wright, 77, was born on August 28, 1947 in Oakland, CA. He left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on April 16, 2025. He was a beloved husband to his wife Sherri and beloved father to his son Zack. Originally from California, he and his family relocated to Cartwright, OK 25 years ago. He was employed as an electronics technician for Patton Vending Co. in Modesto, CA for approximately 25 years and after relocating, worked for a number of years for GTECH in north Texas until his retirement.
During his retirement he was pleased to become a part of the area animal rescue community. This became his passion and was something he truly loved dedicating his life and time to. He enjoyed spending time with other like-minded individuals and those people truly became a part of his family. Once Tom and his wife became part of the rescue community their pet population seemed to grow both by adoption and fostering the many needed pets that crossed their paths. He enjoyed watching baseball with his son Zack and they enjoyed attending Rangers games whenever possible.
Tom had a vast knowledge of both trivial information and politics. He could debate any subject and he generally felt that he won the debate. He had strong opinions and was not afraid to share them with anyone who would listen. He also had a strong compassion for people and was always willing to help wherever he was needed.
Tom is survived by his wife Sherri of 53 years and also his son Zack of Denison TX; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews especially Michelle O'Hearn (Michael) and family of Rowlett, TX and Terry Bartlett (Linda) and family of Antioch, CA.
In lieu of flowers Tom would be honored for donations to be made to Rest Stop Rescue, 1121 W. Belden St. Sherman TX 75090. Tom would be so honored to know that the mission that he so loved might continue in his memory.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
