Thomas Allen
Miller
Jun 12, 1945 — Feb 18, 2024
Leonard
Leonard, Texas -- Thomas Allen Miller, 78, of Leonard, TX passed away February 18, 2024, surrounded by his family singing praises to his Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
Thomas was born ¾ of a mile east of Yuba, Oklahoma on Tuesday, June 12, 1945. He was the first of 5 children that would be born to Ples and Luetta Miller. As a young boy he refined his keen ability of getting in trouble by sneaking off to the river rather than doing less important things like school on occasion. He would say that his dad always seemed to know when he was up to no good which inevitably ended with meeting his dad's strong left hand across his backside. Being born to that lefthanded farmer, he knew the value of hard work and saw what a reliance on God's provision looked like. This helped shape who he was, and he instilled in his children that same work ethic, a kindness towards others, and having fun in whatever you do. He volunteered for the US Army Reserve after graduating Yuba High School, he then worked for General Cable in Bonham, TX where he would spend over 35 years.
Thomas had a great love for the outdoors and all the beauty that God had created, especially fish, he really loved fish! His many fishing adventures included outings with his family, children, and grandchildren. The adventure that always brought a tear to his eyes was an Alaskan fishing trip where he was awestruck by the immense beauty and grandeur of what his eyes beheld. On that trip he would sit for hours taking in the expanse of the scenery, telling the locals how blessed they were to wake up to this every day. In Thomas there was no better daddy, brother, friend, or fishing buddy!
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Ples and Luetta Miller, brother Bruce Miller and sister Barbara Bruner. He is survived by his wife Dawn Miller, daughter Tracy (Dennis) Stewart, son Tommy (Kiley) Miller, stepsons Michael (Melania) Flores, Erik (Shannon) Flores, and Andrew Moreland, brothers Phil (Carolyn) Miller, and Joe Miller. He is also survived by grandchildren Dawson (Arianne) Stewart, Darby Stewart, Kaylin (Adam) Flowers, Maxwell Flores, Madeline Flores, Braeden Richardson, Scarlett Miller, Barrett Miller, Blake Miller, and finally his namesake Sterling Allen Miller. He leaves behind seven great grandchildren Madalyn, Jaxton, Whitlee, Elliana, Nash, Emery, and baby Flowers on the way.
Service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Yarnaby Assembly Of God in Hendrix, OK. Pastor Ron Bruner will officiate.
