Stephen Austin Mitchell, 77, of Denison left this life December 9th, 2024 to be with the Lord.

Steve was born December 14th, 1946 in Marshall Missouri. The Family moved to Garland Texas in 1949. Steve attended Garland schools and was 1965 Graduate of Garland High School.  After graduation he attended Christian College of the Southwest in Garland. The next year he attended Southeastern Christian College in Winchester Kentucky before receiving his bachelors degree from University of North Texas. During student teaching Steve decided that was not the path for him and worked in construction for three years before moving north to Sherman, Texas. While in Sherman he attended classes at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and started working at Texas Instruments. He continued working for Texas Instruments and MEMC for over 30 years before retiring.

Steve had a love of music and it was through music in high hchool that he met his wife Patricia Joyce Pointer. He and Pat, as he called her, were married September 13th, 1968. They were blessed with three boys Jeremy, Cody and Sam.They moved into their new home in Denison in 1985.  Steve and Pat continued to share their love of music and sang in the Villagers Chorale for many years.

Steve was a very loving husband, father and brother. He enjoyed watching his three boys in whatever sport or activity in which they were involved. He taught them to always be and do their best at whatever they were doing. He enjoyed fishing with the family and working outside. He taught the boys how to work on engines, so they could maintain their own equipment.

He is survived by his wife Pat of Denison. Two sons Cody Austin Mitchell of Denison, Samuel Alex Mitchell and wife Andrea of Denison. Five grandchildren Alison Mitchell, Ava Mitchell, Autumn Mitchell, Axel Mitchell and Paisley Mitchell. Brother Jim Mitchell of Denison and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Mitchell and Roberta Helen (Lawyer) Mitchell. Son Jeremy Lee Mitchell. Sister in laws Paula Bradley, June Towles and Marilyn Mitchell. Brother in laws John Towles and Richard Bradley.

Pallbearers will be his nephews Randy Mitchell, Tracy Mitchell, Joe Pell, Jay Pointer, Patrick Davis and James Chatham.

Family night will be at American Funeral Home in Denison Friday December 13th from 6pm-8pm.

Services will be held Saturday December 14th at 11am at the Central Church of Christ in Denison.
