Samuel " Rusty" Russell Dick, 68, of Denison TX, passed away on August 25th, 2023. Rusty was born on Wednesday, June 1st 1955, born the only son of William (Bill) and Evelyn Dick in Somerset, KY.

As an infant, Rusty and his parents moved to Denison and lived in the Grayson County area most of his life. Rusty went to Denison schools throughout his childhood. Rusty met Susie, the love of his life, in 1969, and they then married on September 7, 1971 in Sherman, TX. They would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this year. Rusty and Susie had 2 sons, Bill and James Dick.

Rusty was a man of many talents. He served his country as a marine, and also as a Texas National Guardsman. He worked in the road construction industry for quite some time, and later went on to earn his Associates degree in Funeral Services from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. Rusty worked in area funeral homes, even owning one in Sherman Tx for a short period of time. Rusty later owned and operated Rusty's Tire & Repair service in Luella, TX , in which he worked with his oldest son, Bill for many years. Rusty then transitioned to working for Union Pacific Railroad, and due to his declining health, was forced to retire in 2008. Rusty took pride in all of his jobs, and always did them to the best of his ability.

Rusty was a loving and caring man, who would have helped anyone he could, even if it took his last penny. He was a loving husband, adoring father, and a proud grandfather to Kaden, Tyler, Garrett, and Cale Dick. He was also honored to be a great grandfather to his great grandson William. His fur baby, and best friend Penny, kept him company is his later days, and kept his lap warm.

Rusty is survived by his loving wife, Susie: Two sons, Bill Dick ( Kathi)  and James Dick ( Dennie): Four grandsons & one great grandson: Brother, Bill Owens: Aunt Etta Hannical : Uncle H.C. Murphy, and numerous cousins,  nieces and nephews.

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) and Evelyn Dick, two infant sisters, brother Leon Lenard, and sister Linda Shires. Many aunts, uncles, his grandparents, and brother-in-laws also preceded Rusty in death years ago.

Family visitation will be held at American Funeral Service,  Tuesday August 29th,  2023 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at American Funeral Service Wednesday August 30th, 2023 @ 11am.  4312 W. Crawford St Denison, TX , followed by burial at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
