Rita Kay Shelby, fondly know as Kay, age 60, of Sherman, TX, passed away at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, TX.  Kay was born on August 10, 1962 in Sherman, TX to Billy Frank Mayo and Verna Ruth (Young) Mayo.  She was a High School graduate from Sadler/Southmayd school.  She married Wayne Shelby on February 16, 1983 in Gainesville, TX.  She had a very important job, that of being a homemaker and raising her family.  Kay was an outdoor individual and loved to garden and spend time with the grandkids.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She will be greatly missed by her loving family.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband; Wayne Shelby of Sherman, TX.  her children;  Stephanie Stephens & Jared Davis  of Howe, TX, Megan Shelby & Jeremy Qualls of Sherman, TX, Aaron Shelby & Laura of Sherman, TX, Ethan Shelby of Sherman, TX, her brother; Cliff Mayo & wife Sharon, sister; Jan Petree & husband Hayden, uncles; Hank Lovejoy & Rita and Jack Young & Myna, 10 grandchildren; Jaiden, Kiersten, Maddi, Brinen, Stevie, Melody, Cory, Keeley, Tenley, Jemma, many cousins, other extended family and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Billy and Verna Mayo, Grandparents; Bill & Vivian Young and Frank & Lillian Mayo, nephew; Bradley Mayo and niece; Ashley Folsom.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, 6 – 8 p.m. at American Funeral Service, Denison, TX with Hank Lovejoy officiating.
