Obituary

Mark Moseley, 71 of Denton, Texas was held close by family in his home as he entered the gates of Heaven on February 18, 2026 at 4:35 a.m.  following a 5 ½ month illness with brain cancer.

Born Richard Mark on December 14, 1954 in Midland, Texas to Billy Richard Moseley and Wilma Jeane Smith Moseley, Mark was brought up in a Christian and loving home along with his two brothers, John and Keith Moseley.  The family lived in Austin, Texas when his dad was in graduate school at the University of Texas and led Mark to become a Texas Longhorn fan for life.  When Mark was in middle school, the family moved to Paris, Texas which he always considered his hometown where his love of drama and music took life.  Mark graduated from Paris High School in 1973 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Paris Junior College in 1975.    Paris Junior College was where he met the love of his life, Debbie in the Fall of 1979, although God wouldn't pair them up until the spring of 1980.

Mark and Debbie were married on May 28, 1982 and both graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas in the Spring of 1983. They moved to Denton in 1983 and Mark put his theater degree working 13 years for Bill Utter Ford and proudly followed in his grandfather, Buzz Moseley's footsteps.  In 1995, Mark enrolled in TWU to pursue certification as an elementary school teacher.  After a short stint at Ginnings Elementary, he found a home at Robert E. Lee Elementary. In the Fall of 2007, he joined the Paloma Creek Falcons and was elected as their first Teacher of the Year.  This was an honor he held close to his heart. He was always willing to lend a hand, listen and pray with faculty members and could often be heard singing down the hallway.  He was also loved by students and their parents for making them feel valued and loved.  Mark made lifelong friends wherever he worked.  Mark retired from Denton I.S.D. in May of 2016 to travel with Debbie and spend more time with family.  In 2019, he made his debut as Singing Texas Santa with Debbie as his Mrs. Claus. which allowed him to fully use his degree in the theater to its fullest.  He used his career as Santa to share the birth of his Savior as the greatest gift ever given to mankind.

Mark was always one to show up when he knew someone needed help.  Mark was passionate about sharing the love of Jesus with others through his work and witnessing. He answered the call to missions working with World Changers each summer beginning in 2007 and completed 26 missions.  His last mission trip was in July 2025 as a Crew Chief in Knoxville, TN.  He was excited to be teaching youth how to use construction tools and the projects that improved the lives of others and showing others the love of Jesus through their actions. He made many lifetime friends.

Mark was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church, Denton Bible Church, Cooper Creek Baptist Church where he served as youth pastor and deacon, Cowboy Church of Cooper Creek where he served as an elder. Mark loved to sing and was a valued member of the choir and/or praise team of the churches he served in.  He was a member of Benchmark Bible Church at the time of his passing.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.  He is survived by his wife, Debbie.  Sons, James Richard Taylor Moseley of Denton and John Paul Moseley and wife Courtney Walker Moseley of Ennis.  He is also survived by his grandson, Efraim David Moseley of Ennis who always brought a twinkle to Pop's eyes and a raspberry to his lips, virtual or in person.  He is also survived by beloved sisters-in-law and brothers in law, Donna Yarbrough and Bobby; Denise Remonte and Keith, Donna Moseley of Paris, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and close friends.

His battle with infiltrating astrocytic glioma (glioblastoma) was vicious and affected many aspects of his memory and day-to-day life, but it could not rob him of his ability to express his love to his family and to praise the Lord through prayer and song.  Even as a seizure left him slurring his words, the melody and words of his favorite hymns and worship songs were distinguishable to those he loved and surrounded him on his last day on earth.   He had communicated in the days ahead that he was preparing to meet his Savior. Mark was thankful of God's grace and prayed that God's grace would find each of you reading this covered by it.  His favorite verse throughout his sickness was: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God, and the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7.
