He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." – Psalm 91
Phillip Michael Johnston, age 73, went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2025. He passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on August 17, 1951, in Tulia, Texas, to Johnny and Wanda Johnston, Phillip was a devoted husband, loving father, and a man of unwavering faith. He shared 45 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Kathy McGuinn Johnston. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his three sons, whom he loved with all his heart. Above all, he cherished his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Phillip was an electrician by trade, but there was nothing he couldn't accomplish once he set his mind to it. A proud veteran, he served as a SeaBee in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. In his free time, he found happiness in fishing, hunting, and working in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Wanda Johnston; his sister, Teresa Coonrod; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Johnston of Colbert, OK; his sons, Phillip Johnston II and wife Joy of Dayton, TX; Mark Johnston and wife Angel of Colbert, OK; and Tony Johnston and wife Sarah of Sherman, TX. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Shelby and her husband Brendan (Boomer) of Webster, TX; Katrena Johnston and fiancée Megan Wosley of Dayton, TX; Sammie (11), Austin (8), and Natalie (5); and his great-grandson, Sammy (4 months).
He is also survived by his sister, Rita Johnston Taylor of Groves, TX; his brother, Troy Johnston and wife Dee Dee of Waller, TX; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers: Matthew Hare, Bryan Hughes, Phillip Johnston II, Mark Johnston, Tony Johnston, Greg Hodges.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, 2:00 P.M. at Light House Church of Colbert, OK, with Pastor Joe Beshires and Pastor Anthony Robb officiating. Family and friends visitation will be prior to the service at 1:30 P.M. Interment will follow at Garden of Memory Cemetery, Colbert, OK.
Phillip's legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
