Peggy Joyce Carson Morris
November 16, 1928 – July 11, 2026
Peggy Joyce Carson Morris, age 97, was peacefully called home to her Savior on July 11, 2026.
Peggy was born on November 16, 1928, at home in Holliday, Texas, to Willie Velma Odessa Holman Carson and Charley Wilber "Cudge" Carson. The second of six children, Peggy grew up learning the meaning of hard work, responsibility, and family. She helped on the family farm with household chores, bringing the cows in for milking, and chopping cotton. She later worked in retail in Wichita Falls.
After graduating from Holliday High School, Peggy married the love of her life, Therwin Thomas "Son" Morris, on May 29, 1947. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership that would span almost five decades. Together, Peggy and Son raised three children: Betty Ann Morris Warren, Micky Preston Morris, and Patti Laurie Morris Lawson.
When Son began his career with the Post Office, a new chapter of service began for them both. After years of union work with the Texas State Association of Letter Carriers, Son became the National Business Agent for Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana. In 1969, Peggy and Son moved the family to Dallas so they could be closer to the airport and spend more time together as a family.
Peggy was by Son's side throughout their years of union service. From the very beginning, she became actively involved in the TSALC Auxiliary and eventually served as President of the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary. Together, Peggy and Son traveled extensively, giving countless hours, days, and weeks to serving Letter Carriers and their families. Their dedication to their union brothers and sisters became a meaningful part of their lives and enriched the lives of everyone they touched.
Peggy had a special heart for helping children and those in need. Through her work with the Auxiliary, she spearheaded programs that resulted in significant donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Muscular Dystrophy Associatio n. Her service was never simply something she did—it was an expression of the love, faith and compassion that guided her life.
Peggy was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Even when she could no longer physically attend services, she faithfully watched services on television. Her faith remained a constant source of strength throughout her life. She was faithful in her practice of prayer. She faithfully carried the people she loved before her Lord and Savior, praying for family, friends, and those in need. Her faith was not only something she believed—it was something she lived. Peggy tried to live by the words of Luke 6:31:
"Do to others as you would have them do to you ." She was slow to speak and quick to forgive. She believed in helping others, showing kindness, and treating people with grace. Her life of service was a beautiful reflection of her faith.
In her later years, Peggy faced many health challenges, including weakness in her legs that greatly limited her mobility. For a woman who was always a "doer," someone who loved to stay busy and accomplish things, this was especially difficult. But today, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is no longer limited by an earthly body.
She is walking again. She is walking with Jesus. She is whole. She is free. And we believe she is singing with the angels.
Her Legacy of Love
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, "Son"; her daughter, Betty Ann; her siblings, Bo, Pat, Deril, Charlene, and Debby; and Son's siblings, Therma Lee, Troy, Carol, Shirley, Charles, and HV "Pee Wee."
She leaves behind a family who will carry her love and memory forward:
Son: Micky Morris Daughte r: Laurie Lawson and her husband, George Grandchildren : Clay Warren, Cody Warren, Casey Lawson and his wife, Crystal, Micah Lawson, and Zana Molina and her husband, Buddy Great-grandchildren : Rain, Somang, Hana, Nari, Athens, and Collins Lawson; Spencer Warren and Max Warren, and Helena Molina.
Peggy's earthly journey is complete, but the love she gave will continue through the generations of family she leaves behind and through the countless lives she touched along the way. She taught those around her the value of faith, family, forgiveness, hard work, and service. She loved deeply, prayed faithfully, and gave generously.
Although she will be greatly missed, we rejoice in the promise that this is not goodbye forever. We have faith that she was greeted with "well done, good and faithful servant."
In Loving Memory
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peggy's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the National Kidney Foundation.
"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
