Norma Lee
Johnson
Apr 12, 1931 — Jan 16, 2026
Denison
Norma Lee Johnson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Born at home on April 12, 1931, to Lester Sheldon and Marian Ruth (Jones) Kruser on 18th Avenue in West Belmar, NJ, Ms. Johnson spent the majority of her life in West Belmar and Neptune, New Jersey. In 2010, she relocated to Denison, Texas, to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.
Ms. Johnson led a long and fulfilling life among family and friends. During her youth, she was an active member of the Iris Assembly of Rainbow Girls in Belmar, where she held several offices, including Past Worthy Advisor. She contributed to her community as a Girl Scout leader in Neptune's Bradley Park area while her daughters were in grade school. Professionally, Ms. Johnson sewed sample dresses for Berkley Togs and created clothing for her daughters and granddaughters. For over 25 years, she owned and operated The Village Pottery in Spring Lake, NJ, serving as a distributor for Ceramichrome paints and instructing specialized ceramic classes along the East Coast. Before moving to Texas, she also provided pet-sitting services. She used to joke all the time that she was sleeping with dogs. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, and crocheting often crafting consignment pieces for local stores—as well as visiting casinos, playing bingo, and card games. Above all, she was devoted to her family.
She was predeceased by her parents and her grandson, James Nunnally Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Coffman and husband Cody of Whitesboro, TX, and Joyce Kifner and husband Stefan of Calera, OK; granddaughters Paige Torbett and Jamie Wilson; great-grandchildren Alexis Story, Juliette Naughton, Scarlett Torbett, Scottie Wilson, and Griffin Torbett; as well as her beloved cat, I-Lean. Several nieces and nephews also remain.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local animal shelter in Ms. Johnson's name.
