Michael Kelvin Phillips, born September 7th, 1949 in Bunkie, LA.  Mike had been in poor health the past few years and was on home hospice in his beloved cedar log cabin that he built himself, surrounded with the love and care of his best friend and caregiver Cindy Pohlenz and her husband Denny when he passed away on Sat July 4th, 2026.

Mike was the owner of "Betterbuilt Homes" and built many homes throughout southeastern Oklahoma and North Texas during his 50 year career and gave many opportunities to young men wanting to learn the construction trade.

Mike loved spear fishing for catfish in the Red River, Toyota Land Cruisers, building custom tables and picture frames in his workshop to give away to his friends and family, and playing music with his friends in the Texas Sundown Band in his younger years.  He was a kind and generous man and his friends knew him as one of a kind, and the one that was always there if anyone needed help.

Preceded in death by his parents Herman Eugene and Maretta Phillips, brother Bobby Phillips, and sisters Linda Phillips, and Barbara Hobbs

Survived by sister Jan Calloway, children Stephen Freeman and wife Tammie, Daniel Freeman and wife Tasha, Crystal Freeman, many grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many longtime friends.
