Michael Ray
Barnett
Dec 14, 1952 — Nov 8, 2024
Kingston
Michael Ray Barnett was born on December 14, 1952, in Wolf City, Texas, to his loving parents, Ray and Billie Barnett, and his older sister, Shirley. Growing up, Mike was cherished by his Grandma Morgan, and he developed a deep love for his family and community.
In 1976, Mike met and married the love of his life, Herlinda Duran. Their bond was unbreakable, and together they raised two sons, Joseph, born in 1977, and Adam, born in 1978. Mike's heart was as big as his love for his family. Throughout his life, he welcomed many "adopted" family members into his home and heart. His home was always open, and if you didn't have a place to go for a holiday, you were always welcome at Uncle Mike and Aunt Linda's.
Mike enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. His family was the center of his world, and he took great joy in every moment shared with them.
Mike left this earth on November 8, 2024, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Barnett; his father, Ray Barnett; his mother, Billie Barnett; and his sister, Shirley Rich.
He is survived by his stepmother, Dorthy Barnett; his sisters Michelle Mullens (and her children Logan and Sara), and Lisa Fine (and her husband Joe Fine, along with their children Kaylee and Kingston); his sons Joseph and wife Misty Barnett of Needles, California, and Adam and wife Cheryl Barnett of Kingston, Oklahoma; his grandsons Brenden Barnett (fiancé Raven Lawrence and their son Rhett Barnett) and Daven Barnett, all of Kingston, Oklahoma. Mike is also survived by his godson, Nick Wallace of Denison, Texas; his niece Cheryl Partridge (and her daughter Candace, and husband Stryker Hunnicutt), along with great-great nephew Wyatt Hunnicutt and great-great niece Everleigh Hunnicutt; as well as his nephew Orlando and wife Andrea Duran, niece Anjelica Duran and partner Kevin Stewart, nephews Cole Busby and Nick Duran, nieces Rhiannon Walker and Seneca Cantu, and a host of additional family, "adopted" sons and daughters, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service to honor Mike will be held at American Funeral Services, located at 4312 W. Crawford St., Denison, Texas, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. The family hour will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by the memorial service at 7:00 pm.
Mike's legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will forever be cherished.
