Obituary

Mary Leone Luckie, affectionately known as Sandy, was greeted with open arms by our Lord, dear family and many friends who had gone on before her.  Sandy passed away on March 20, 2024, at ninety-nine years of age, just eight days shy of her 100th birthday. Born in Stoneham, Colorado on March 28, 1924, she was raised on a horse farm along with four brothers: Wilbur, Earl, Merwyn, Lawrence and one sister, Ila Beth.

As a result of the Depression and Dust Bowl, she and her family moved to Denver, Colorado. There she met her forever love, Frank Luckie, who was serving in the army during World War II. They met at a USO church sponsored dance. They were married on September 30, 1945. It was a love that lasted sixty-three years.

The young couple traveled from Denver to Denison where they settled for the rest of their earthly lives. Sandy was a devoted member of the Waples Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years in the elementary department. She was a charter member of the Criterion Adult Sunday class, as well as a member of PEO. She loved helping others and volunteered at Texoma Medical Center as a Pink Lady for forty-three years.

Sandy will be remembered as a loving Christian mother devoted to her family. She was a kind and loyal friend to many. Her gentle spirit, her kind nature and sweet smile endeared her to many people. She never met a stranger. Sandy's nature is described in the following verse; "Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones" Proverbs 16:24 Her sweet soul will be missed by her remaining family and friends.
