Nov 9, 1954 — Feb 11, 2025
Gainesville
Mabel Jeanine Hodge, lovingly known as Jeanine, passed away surrounded by family and love. She was born on November 9, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Mary Bell Mattox and Henry Harrison Mattox.
Jeanine was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her beloved children: Kenneth Hodge, Crystle Hodge, Shawn Hodge, Michelle Shelton, and Christopher Hodge. She was preceded in death by her sons, Gary Lee Allen Hodge and Brandon Hodge, as well as her husband, Gary Henry Hodge. She was one of seven siblings and leaves behind her brothers and sisters: Donna Barton, Mary Fleming, Henry Mattox Jr., and Jess Mattox, while she joins in eternal rest with her late siblings, John Mattox, Nathan Mattox, and Elsie Ann Legg.
Jeanine found joy in life's simple pleasures—spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends, and doting on her beloved little dogs. She had a deep love for music, often playing the piano and guitar while singing some of her favorite songs, including "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay," "Daddy's Hands," and "Coat of Many Colors. " Her faith was the foundation of her life. She was deeply spiritual, loved God, and found comfort in reading her Bible and singing hymns. Jeanine's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by a large and loving family, including numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, all of whom will forever cherish her memory. Jeanine was truly loved by many and will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of her life will be held for loved ones to gather, to honor and remember the beautiful soul that was Mabel Jeanine Hodge.
