Leighton Mead
Bramer Jr.
Oct 4, 1936 — May 18, 2025
Van Alstyne
Leighton (Budd) Mead Bramer, Jr., age 88, of Van Alstyne, Texas, was called Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He passed peacefully at home in the presence of loved ones.
Budd was born on October 04, 1936, in Johnson City, New York to Leighton Mead Bramer, Sr. and Edna Muriel (Simpson) Bramer. He was a loving and honorable husband and wonderful father. Family was first and foremost in his life. He lived and shared more than 63 years of loving marriage to Margaret (Mullins) Bramer, the love of his life. They had three sons whom he cherished beyond measure and gave him great joy and some occasional moments of stress and angst.
Budd worked hard from early childhood doing whatever was necessary to provide for family needs. From mink trapping and candling eggs in his single digit years to truck driving and setting pins in the bowling alley in his teen years to enlisting in the Air Force and also later becoming a Broward County Deputy Sheriff for seven years. He was a man of many trades, and often times being employed in several jobs at once. Even so, he always made time for his lovely wife and three boys. Budd coached baseball and was always involved with the sports of his sons, rarely missing a competitive event and often being the coach. He established a loving home for his family with Christian morals, biblical ethics and high integrity and responsibility. In his retirement years in Van Alstyne, he was always ready to help a neighbor and to be their handyman. He attended Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas with his family.
Budd is survived by his wife Margaret; his three sons and their wives Mark and Christine, Kirk and Joi and Kevin and Kelley; grandchildren Brandon, Joshua, Courtney, James, Matthew, Brooke and Kimberleigh; great-grandchildren Mallie and Brady; his sister Corinne Martin (Stevan Martin) and her daughters Diana and Dawn. Budd is also survived by two additional sons, not by blood, but by spirit, Keith and Sean Rankin.
Budd leaves a legacy of love, cherished memories and an example of great duty and honor to one's family and God and though he has left this life he will live on in our memories. Until we meet again, thank you for all that you selflessly gave to us.
In lieu of flowers Budd would be honored for donations to be made to Mighty Oaks Foundation (www.mightyoaksprograms.org), an organization committed to serving military & first responder communities who have endured hardship around the globe through intensive peer-based discipleship Programs.
