Obituary

Larry Gene Ooten, 80, of Cartwright Oklahoma, peacefully ascended to heaven on February 13,
2025. Born on August 12, 1944, in Sherman Texas to the late Edwin and Nina Ooten. Larry was
a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and a man of remarkable skill. Larry attended
Sherman public schools and served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam
War. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad (formerly MKT) after many years of dedicated
service.

A true craftsman at heart Larry had a lifelong passion for creating with his hands. There was no
project too big or small, from rebuilding classic cars to designing and building his own home. He
could fix anything that was broken, his expertise and talent were second to none.  Larry was a
man you could count on, known for his reliability and generosity. He was always willing to stop
and lend a helping hand to a stranger in need.

In his downtime Larry would share his love for fishing with his grandsons Ryan and Wyatt who
brought him immense joy. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and would spend his days on
his Harley Davidson enjoying the freedom of the road. He carried his passion for classic cars
into retirement where he became renowned for his skill in paint and body. Larry's skill,
resilience, kindness and dedication to craftsmanship will be remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Wayne, Lila, and Donnie and his grandson Ryan
Richardson.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Ann Ooten; daughters Angie and husband
Bobby, and Stephanie Ooten; grandson Wyatt Measles and great-granddaughter Everly
Measles. He also leaves behind his siblings: Shirley Woodson, Peggy and husband Ray
Dagenais, Gerald Ooten; and sisters-in-law Joyce Ooten, Betty Barron, and Rebecca Jean
McConnell. Larry was loved by many family members and friends including many nieces,
nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with Larry's wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. A celebration of his life
will be held at a later date, where his family and friends will gather to remember the incredible
man he was and honor the legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and love that he leaves behind.
