Obituary

Judith "Judy" Lee Calhoun passed away July 21, 2026, in Denison, Texas at The Homestead of Denison after a long battle with dementia at the age of 85. Judy was born in Armstrong Oklahoma to Clovis and Rosa Lee Calhoun on April 2, 1941.  She was a member of the Caddo Church of Christ.

Judy attended School and graduated from Caddo ISD and attended college at Southeastern University in Durant, Oklahoma. Judy had a talent at whatever she put her mind to and loved to read, travel and spend time with family and friends.  Judy was an avid fan of the Arts.  She loved and frequently attended the Symphony and Theater and enjoyed playing the piano and did so in local concerts when she was young.

She loved helping fellow friends and students while in school and throughout her career and always had an optimistic, kind and cheerful heart which she carried with her throughout her life.

Judy spent most of her career as a legal secretary for Gardere-Wynn Law Firm in Dallas where she resided until 2018 when she moved to Denison.

Judy's greatest love was her family and gathering whenever she could.  The last few years Judy especially enjoyed her daily visits from her great niece Brittani and great, great niece Kinslee.  She would light up when they entered the room whether helping with her needs or participating in activities and just reminiscing.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Clovis and Rosa Lee Calhoun, Brother William Calhoun, Sister Clara Mayhue, and Great Nephew Christopher Barnett.

Judy is survived by her nephews Jay Charles Barnett of Denison, Jeff and wife Carrie Barnett of Denison, Joey and wife Theresa Barnett of Denison and John and wife Lori Barnett of Denison as well as several cousins, Great Nephews and Nieces and a Great, Great Nephew and two Great, Great Nieces.

Judy also leaves behind several long-time friends that were like family to her during her many years while living in Dallas.

The family would like to thank Remarkable Hospice for the loving care and kindness and Homestead of Denison for their care and kindness.
