Pottsboro

Obituary

John "Andrew" Miller of Pottsboro, Texas, passed unexpectedly on January 13, 2023 at the age of 50.

Andrew was born on May 22, 1972 in Dallas and lived a loving childhood in Gainesville and Bedford, Texas, the youngest of two boys.  He graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1990.   He played college football at Tyler Junior College before transferring to Stephen F. Austin State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Marketing. He was also a proud member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

While living and working in Frisco, Andrew was introduced by mutual friends to Shannon Baker, and they both went reluctantly on a blind date in 2003; His life began anew and was changed forever.  Without question, Shannon was the love of his life. They married on October 21, 2006 and welcomed their pride and joy, daughter Ainsley Fayth, on June 8, 2011. One of Andrew's greatest delights was being a father and watching Ainsley grow.

They moved to Pottsboro from Frisco in December of 2017 to expand the home building business, be closer to Shannon's hometown of Colbert, Oklahoma and her parents, Charlie and Darla, and to establish a simpler life for their daughter. He was an active member of the Keep Pottsboro Beautiful Committee and ran for Pottsboro City Council. It was clear to all around him that he was immensely happy in the life they had created in Pottsboro.

Andrew was a caring community member, a loyal friend and a dedicated family man who fiercely loved those in his life. A man of great faith, he was baptized at Hope Church in Frisco in April of 2013. His honesty was uncompromising. He always wanted to do the right thing and that guided everything he did. He was sweet and kind and will be remembered for so many things - his fun, competitive and entrepreneurial spirit, his love of life, barbecuing and trying new foods, his like-ability and the way he included everyone in the room, the way he made everyone laugh with stories of situations that could only happen to him, and being the absolute best husband and doting dad. His life was too short, but he touched so many in his 50 years.  He wasn't just a good man, Andrew was the best man, and we are all better for having known him.

Andrew is survived by his wife of 16 years, Shannon, daughter Ainsley, parents Fred and Marion Miller of Whitehouse, Texas, brother Douglas and sister-in-law Andrea Miller of Shady Shores, Texas, nephew Zachary Miller, niece Grace Miller, uncle Johnny Simmons of Arp, Texas, uncle Cyrus and aunt Jenna-Vee Miller of Kerrville, in-laws Charlie and Darla Baker of Colbert, Oklahoma, and cousins Nikki and husband Joe Keegan of Arp, Sophie and husband Paul Jackson of Ruidoso, Hannah Beall of Austin and Katie and husband Spencer Parker of Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by cousin Houston Reeve Simmons of Menard.

A celebration of life will take place at American Funeral Service, 4312 W. Crawford St. in Denison on Friday, January 20.  Visitation will be held at 2 p.m., followed by the service at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, an education fund is being set up for his beloved daughter. Andrew Miller Memorial Education fund to benefit Ainsley Fayth.
