Obituary

Jo Nell Burchett, age 87, of Gordonville, TX, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Jo was born on November 21, 1935, in Dixie, TX, to W.V. "Pete" and Iona Chambers. She married her husband, Jack, on September 11, 1980, in Gordonville, TX. Jo worked in payroll and accounts payable at Texoma Healthcare Center and Focused Care of Sherman before retiring. After retirement, Jo enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved nothing more than to sit and talk on her back porch with everyone. Jo enjoyed working in the garden and canning and freezing her vegetables. Everyone looked forward to having some of her famous Banana Pudding at every family event.  She loved to spend time with her 'other children', her beloved dogs, Jaxon and JoJo. She was a wonderful mother and the sweetest Nanny who made everything special. We will miss her laugh, her hugs, and her Sunday dinners.

Jo is survived by her daughter; Kim Harmon of Sherman, son; Mitch Yarbrough and wife Kelley of Collinsville, her sister; Mary Alice Burger of Tioga, TX, grandchildren; Kacie Harmon of Sherman, Krystal Lowe and husband Jacob of Sherman, Brandan Yarbrough of Sherman, Meagan Fanning and husband Joe of Commerce, Wendy Williams and husband Blaise of Bridgeport, Brandy Davis and husband Jason of Canton, Kyle Bryson and wife Tannah of Collinsville, Candace Bryson of Collinsville, Matt Morris and wife Reshea of Burleson, great-grandchildren; Kaden, Kason, A.J., Ethan, Lady, Levi, Madison, Emilee, Joey, Maddee, Kylie, Grace, Kynley, Tanner, Jacob and Helen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; W.V. "Pete" and Iona Chambers, husband; Jack Burchett, sisters; Peggy Worrell and Jeanie Carney, brothers; Junior Chambers, Donnie Chambers, and Ronnie Chambers, and son; Mike Yarbrough.

Jo was given extra special care in her last few weeks by the wonderful ICU nurses of Wilson N. Jones. We would like to personally thank Sara, Molly, Lacey, Allison, Emily, Peggy, Julie and many others who treated and loved our Mama/Nanny. Sara was loveable, affectionate, and our comic relief, but also honest and helped us stay focused on making our Nanny comfortable. Molly was so sweet and gentle with Nanny and loved on her like she was her own grandmother. Lacey was always kind and positive, and helped give us hope in desperate times. Allison was caring and informative, and helped to keep us grounded when the hard times came.  Emily was a sweetheart, and was always so eager to care for Nanny and share her knowledge of how her body worked. Peggy was loving and shared her own personal experiences that helped us navigate this process. Julie was sweet, calm, and full of knowledge and was wonderful to our sweet Nanny. We truly believe each one of these unique ladies was put into our lives for a reason, and each one brought a special gift of their talents to help us through this experience. These ladies are angels on earth and we love them dearly for loving our Mama and Nanny.

Family Visitation will be held Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 7-8pm at American Funeral Services in Denison, TX. Graveside services honoring Jo will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Gordonville Cemetery, officiated by Richard Gage. Pallbearers will be Kaden Harmon, Kason Southerland, Brandan Yarbrough, A.J. Golden, David Harmon, Jacob Lowe, Levi Lowe, Ethan Golden, Joey Fanning, and Kyle Bryson.
