Apr 27, 1952 — Feb 15, 2025
Sherman
Jim Dale Sharp, age 72, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, in Denison, Texas. He was born on April 27, 1952, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Joe Sharp and Wanda Jaquess, but was raised by his Uncle Elmer and Aunt Mildred Hathcoat.
On January 28, 1972, Jim married his loving wife, Katherine Deaton, in Reno, Nevada. Together they raised two children, Jason Sharp and Lisa Lampi. He was the proud grandfather of Katelyn Lampi, Jordan Sharp, Alexis Lampi, Austin Sharp, Hayden Sharp, and Trinity Sharp, and a cherished great-grandfather to Mia, Natalie, Kassidy, and Izeah Asencion; Owen and Sophia Peinado; and Christian, Jaxson, and Carson Sharp.
Jim was extremely talented and was able to master complex math, become a skilled appliance repairman, automotive mechanic, electrician, and carpenter. He channeled these talents into his successful business, J & J Appliance, which he owned and operated for over 40 years.
He was a devoted Christian. Jim was an active member of Liberty Lighthouse Church in Sherman, Texas. Jim previously attended Echoes of Calvary Church in Salinas, California. He volunteered his time as a master carpenter, creating beautiful wooden furniture for the church.
Jim was known for his unwavering generosity and tireless work ethic, a kind and resourceful man who eagerly shared his blessings. His faith-filled heart guided him through life's challenges, and he never hesitated to pass on his know-how—whether fixing appliances or teaching others how to craft. Humble by nature and brimming with a warm, approachable spirit, he embraced each day, often found casting a fishing line or tackling a new project. Jim's passion was woodworking and drawing. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his shop, creating unique wooden gifts for family and friends. His dependable, creative mind turned obstacles into solutions, and his love for family and friends shone through every act of kindness.
He had a special nickname for everyone, making people feel seen and valued wherever he went. Jim is survived by his wife Katherine; son Jason; daughter Lisa; and a large, loving extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Joe Sharp and Wanda Jaquess; brother Steve Sharp; and sister Mary Jane Sharp.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Liberty Lighthouse Church, 110 W. Mulberry St., Sherman, TX, on March 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. In keeping with his wishes, Jim will be cremated. Friends and family are invited to share stories and honor the warm-hearted legacy he leaves behind.
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me… And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again…" (John 14:1–3, KJV)
May his memory continue to guide us toward kindness, resourcefulness, and faith in our own journeys.
