In Loving Memory of Jimmy Don Gowen

March 5, 1966 – August 9, 2026

Jimmy Don Gowen, age 60, of Colbert, Oklahoma, passed away on August 9, 2026, doing what he loved.

Jimmy was born on March 5, 1966, in Denison, Texas, to William and Barbara Gowen. From an early age, Jimmy had a heart for the people he loved. He was kind, funny, generous, and full of life. He had a way of making people laugh, making them feel welcome, and reminding those around him that family is one of life's greatest blessings. Jimmy spent more than 20 years working as an upholsterer, a craft that reflected his patience, creativity, and attention to detail. He also had a lifelong love of airplanes and aviation.

Jimmy loved his family deeply and without reservation. He was a devoted husband to his wife, a loving father, a proud PaPaw, a caring brother, and a true friend. His family meant everything to him, and he never missed an opportunity to tell them how much he loved them or to be there when they needed him. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren; being a girl dad and PaPaw were some of the great joys of his life.

Jimmy loved with his whole heart. He gave his time, his laughter, his strength, and his love freely to the people around him. His presence brought comfort, his sense of humor brought smiles, and his love brought people together. He leaves behind memories that will be treasured for generations and a love that will never fade.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Gowen; his daughter, Jenna Brott, and her husband, Eli; his daughter, Teryn Gowen; his stepchildren, Jordan Gardner and his wife, Audra; Madison Avila and her husband, Dylan; and Sierra Soder; his grandchildren, Taylyn Brott, Ana Brott, and Rowyn Avila; and his unborn grandson, whom he was so excited to welcome into the family. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Ann Morrison and her husband, Gary, and George Gowen and his wife, Lisa, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Barbara Gowen, and his brother, William "Bill" Gowen.

Family night will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.  Both services will be held at First Baptist Church in Colbert, Oklahoma.

Though Jimmy is no longer with us in person, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created will remain with us forever. His family and friends will carry his love in their hearts, hear his laughter in their memories, and see his spirit in the lives of those he loved so dearly.

Jimbo may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts. His love will live on in his family, his grandchildren, and in every life he touched. Until we meet again, Jimbo.
