Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of James Alan Bingham, lovingly known as "Bingo" or "Jimmy," who passed away peacefully at his home in Denison, Texas, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the age of 64.

James was born on December 29, 1961, in Tulare, California, the youngest of three boys born to the late Donald J. and Francis (Vaughn) Bingham. From an early age, James had a spark about him—a sharp sense of humor, a kind heart, and a way of making people feel at ease. If you knew James, chances are you laughed with him, teased him, or found comfort in his quiet presence.

James shared 36 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, JoAnna Whisenhunt-Bingham. Married on September 19, 1990, in Sherman, Texas, their marriage was built on deep love, friendship, faith, and unwavering loyalty. Through JoAnna's guidance and love, James found God and lived by the belief that God walks wherever the believer walks. His faith may have been humbling and personal, but it was strong and sincere.

James was a devoted stepfather to Thomas J. Stoner of Denison, Texas, and Lissa Campbell of Durant, Oklahoma, and he took great pride in his family. He is survived by his brothers, John Bingham, and Doug Bingham and wife Donna, all of Denison, Texas. He was a loving uncle to nephews Donald Bingham, Matthew Bingham, and Jimmy Morris, and nieces Katie Reed (husband Tyler) and Cassie Bingham.

One of James's greatest joys was his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He is lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several great-nieces and nephews, including Alicia and her husband Chris, and their daughters Alizabeth, Mary Jane, and Catalina; Zachary, Victoria, and Kimberly Bingham; and Morgan Reed. Family meant everything to James, and he cherished time spent surrounded by those he loved.

James had a deep appreciation for the simple things in life—being outdoors, cooking, grilling, and smoking food for family and friends, or sitting quietly watching birds and squirrels pass through the yard. He had a soft spot for animals and rescued every one he had, giving them the love and care they deserved.

James will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind humor, his gentle spirit, his love for his family, and the way he showed up for the people in his life. He leaves behind countless stories, smiles, and memories that will continue to be shared and cherished.

In accordance with James's wishes, no funeral services will be held, and he will be cremated. A small celebration of life will be held at a later date at the home of JoAnna Bingham, where family and friends can gather to remember, laugh, and honor a life deeply loved.
