Obituary

Glenn Robert Johnson, 77, of Sherman, Texas, was promoted peacefully to Heaven into the arms of his Lord and Savior March 19, 2026. He was born on July 18, 1948, in Klondike, Texas. After multiple moves, he settled down and spent most of his life in Sherman, where he built a legacy of faith, integrity, quiet courage, and unwavering dedication to others.

Glenn was known by everyone as a Godly, compassionate, hardworking man who lived his life with grace and a servant's heart. He never hesitated to help anyone in need, and his generosity touched countless lives. His greatest passions were his love for God and his love for his family. People often described him as "One of a Kind," "an original" "the nicest Christian man you'd ever meet" and "a brother, a brother in Christ." His gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering faith made him a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him.

Glenn served in the Navy on a destroyer named the John R. Pierce off the coast of New York. After being honorably discharged, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. He held multiple jobs throughout his life, including insurance adjuster, carpenter, owner and operator of a cabinet shop, middle school teacher, employee at the Hall of State at the Dallas Fairgrounds in the Dallas Historical Society Museum, UPS, and finally the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 30 years. He brought dedication and excellence to every chapter of his life. He was endlessly curious and always busy fixing things, working with his hands, and flipping houses in his spare time. Glenn believed in doing things the right way, and he poured care and craftsmanship into everything he touched.

Above all, Glenn cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Johnson; his daughters, Carrie Wakefield and Leigh Johnson; and their husbands, Kenny Wakefield and Gary Griffitt. He was a proud Grandfather to Avory Johnson and wife Leslie, Savannah Hickman and husband Dustin, Keleigh Johnson, Kayleigh Roberson, and Cassidy Roberson, and a great-grandfather to Evelynn Hickman. Glenn is also survived by his sisters, Laqueta Parker, Vera Lancaster, and Rita Morris, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his beloved newborn grandson, Blake Aaron Johnson, who lived a short life before being promoted to Heaven; his parents, Eugene and Irene Johnson; his brothers, Olen and Nevoy; and his sister, Josie.

To his wife, Glenn had a special nickname- he lovingly called her his " Sweetheart." And his daughters he called "Sweetheart's Daughters," a phrase that will forever echo in their hearts.

Glenn's legacy lives on in the countless people he helped while living, the people he helped through organ donation after he passed, the family he adored, and the example he set of what it means to live a life devoted to God and others.
