Glenda L.
Milton
Jan 14, 1938 — Aug 21, 2025
BELLS
Glenda Louise Milton, age 87, of Bells, Texas, was lovingly called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 21, 2025.
To know Glenda was to witness grace in motion and beauty that radiated from within. She loved with the depth of an ocean and the constancy of the tide, pouring herself into every role she cherished—as sister, daughter, devoted wife, nurturing mother, caring aunt, adoring grandmother, and doting great-grandmother. Her love extended beyond family to embrace friends who became family, and each person who crossed her path was touched by her warmth.
Joy seemed to dance in her presence. Wherever Glenda entered, she carried with her an extraordinary gift for peace—rooms that might have harbored tension would soften under her gentle influence, disputes would quiet, and hearts would settle. Her patience was legendary, tested daily by her beloved husband James's wonderfully stubborn nature, yet never found wanting. She embodied kindness in its purest form, her goodness shining brightest in simple moments—like her delight while watching Wheel of Fortune (at which she was remarkably skilled), cheering loudest for every contestant to leave with prizes.
Her self-control was a marvel to behold, matched only by her generous spirit of giving others the benefit of the doubt. Where others might rush to judgment, Glenda would pause to find the good, believing in the best of everyone she encountered.
Born January 14, 1938, in Honey Grove, Texas, to James M. and Lovie Dawson Reece, Glenda grew up surrounded by love in a bustling household with her twelve brothers and sisters: Joe, J.I., John, Sam, Bob, David, Dean, Bertha, Elizabeth, Doris, and Helen.
Love found her in August 1958 when she met James Wishard Milton, and that Christmas Day, they began their beautiful journey as husband and wife. Their joy multiplied on October 17, 1959, when they welcomed their precious son, Gary Paul Milton, into their hearts and home.
In 1967, the Milton family planted roots in Bells, Texas, where Glenda began what would become not just a career, but a calling. For fifty remarkable years, she served as secretary for Dewey Avenue Church of Christ, touching countless lives through her faithful service and becoming a cornerstone of her faith community.
Glenda is survived by her sisters Doris Horton and Helen Wishard; son, Gary Milton; granddaughter, Amme Cissell and her husband Cole Cissell; great-granddaughter Maude Gervais; grandson, Tyler Milton and his wife Kristen Milton; great-children James and Hannah Allison.
She was preceded in death by her father, James M. and mother, Lovie Dawson; her brothers, Joe, J.I., John, Sam, Bob, and David; sisters, Dean, Bertha, and Elizabeth; husband James Wishard Milton; and daughter-in-law Judy Milton.
