Obituary

Gene Ray Landers Sr., 68 years young, passed away at his home in Whitesboro, Texas early Saturday morning, November 22, 2025.

Gene was the second son born to Wallace and Charlene Landers.  He was born on February 12, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. To his sons dismay he was an "Okie".

Gene started his work career at his home church – Chapel Hill Baptist – in the maintenance department.  After getting married he moved on to work at Lewisville Memorial Hospital as head of maintenance.  He earned his master's electrician license in his 20's and continued taking all sorts of technical and business courses as he moved onto Texas Instruments, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Trammel Control, Johnson Controls, CBRE, Xerox – ending his work career with Atos in 2019 as the Facilities Service Director Data Centers.  Gene was extremely knowledgeable and highly respected in his field of work.  A hard-working man determined to provide for his family.

Gene married his childhood sweetheart on August 14, 1976.  They shared 49 plus years of life together, bringing four amazing SONS – Gene Ray, Beau, Trey, and Kade into the family.  Gene enjoyed coaching baseball for the younger boys and loved hunting, fishing, and just hanging out listening to his boy's craziness,  They believed in making all things "fun", usually at the women's expense.  As the boys grew, so did the family.  Starting with a couple of daughters-in-love- Kristal and Melissa.  Later, they added 12 amazing grandkids and 4.2 great-grandkids.  He was so proud of his boys and told everyone that if Momma wanted anything, she just had to mention it around one of the boys and she would get it.

Gene loved hunting, fishing, drag racing, traveling, spending time with his boys, and sharing life with his wife (Pam) – even if he did click his heels, salute, and say, "hey Hitler" occasionally.  In his later years with all the granddaughters and great granddaughters that came along he learned how to play make believe, share his food, take orders, and most recenly he learned how to act properly in pre-K, getting to share a box of chocolate cherries with his young teacher for good behavior.  When asked how many did you give her? His reply was, "I didn't give them to her, she got them for herself.."

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.  His baby brother Dale, dad Wallace Landers, mother Charlene Landers McGinnis and brother-in-law Darren Stacey.

He is survived by his wife Pamela Landers, sons Gene Landers Jr. and wife Kristal, Beau Landers and wife Melissa, Trey Landers, and Kade Landers. Grandchildren Kaitlynn Moore and husband Danny, Ashley and Kamron, Shane and Brianna, Kodie and Gage, Benjamin, Kaleb, Kenzie, Hartley, Allie, Brinley, Alyssiasjo (Jojo), Abigail; great-grandchilden Lily, Alyviah, Briella, Grayson and one on the way.  Brothers Bob Landers and wife Vickie, and Ken Landers.  Brothers and Sisters-in-love Charlotte (Grandma Tot) and husband Ralph Suter, Bob Stacey and wife Mary Ann, Terry Stacey, Carol Ann Sowell and husband Jeff, Sherry Rogers and husband Randy, Della Cooper, Teresa Stacey, Cecelia Myers and husband Steve, Elissia Whitfield and husband Gary (Bub), William Stacey and fiance' Regina.
