Obituary

Fredda (Gibbs Phillips) Lemons passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born on February 4, 1937, in Bonham, Texas and educated at North Fannin Schools in Ivanhoe, Texas and at Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma. She spent most of her life living in Denison, Texas where she had a long and distinguished career as an insurance professional. She was owner of Phillips Insurance in Denison, Texas from 1978 until 2006 and served as a Director for Germania Insurance from 1998 until 2010.

Fredda was a fiercely independent woman who worked hard to establish her career and to create opportunities for others. She was an officer and long-time member of the Denison Business and Professional Women's Club, a director of the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce, a long-standing member of the Texas Association of Business, and a member of the Insurance Women of Texas. She was also deeply dedicated to her family. She was a loving friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Fredda was predeceased by her loving second husband, Ray Lemons, her beloved son, Cris, and her parents, Fred (Cotton) and Opal Gibbs. Fredda is survived by her sons, Scott and Kendall, her grandchildren, Rhianna, Summer, and Marissa, and great grandchildren, Onni and Rowan. She is also survived by her dear friend and companion, Ken Gossage, and stepchildren, Loyce, Rodney, Brad, Sharon, and their children.
