Obituary

Evelyn Charlyne Weger Gage was born April 6th, 1930, to Bert and Richie Weger east of Colbert, OK, where she spent the early years of her life. She married Quinton Delbert Gage on March 3rd, 1947, in Denison, TX. For over 68 years she partnered with him both in his ministry in the Church and in the business of selling cookware in communities in Arkansas and Oklahoma, until his passing in 2016. During that work they hosted countless church and family members and business associates in their home and at their dinner table, where Charlyne's cooking always garnered much appreciation. She loved to cook for those who loved to eat, and always had her grandchildren's favorite dishes prepared when they visited. She loved to visit – either after church services or at the dinner table. Charlyne enjoyed reading, gospel music, and traveling and she was an able seamstress.

In addition to their constant work in the church, Quinton and Charlyne operated booths selling cookware in fairs for several years, where she put her visiting skills to good use. Many customers, stopping only to admire the polished stainless-steel pans, would walk away with a full set of cookware or an appointment for a dinner party in their home. To some it likely seemed the only way to get free and see the rest of the fair!

After Quinton and Charlyne retired and relocated to Colbert full-time in 1987, Charlyne served for several years in various civic roles, including the Colbert Chamber of Commerce, Cemetery Board, and at the Senior Citizen's Center. While fulfilling these roles, she became known as an excellent parade manager.

Charlyne passed from this life peacefully on October 14th, 2024, attended by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Richie Weger, her husband Quinton, her brother Bert Jr, grandson Bruce Gage, a sister-in-law, and a brother-in-law.

She is survived by her children Richard Gage and wife Charlotte Gage, and Elise Stone, all of Colbert; grandchildren Carrie Britt, Nathan Stone, Kari Gage, and Lucas Gage and wife Mandi; great-grandchildren Aaron Houchins, Sarah Trumbly and husband Ethan, Jaron Gage, Jax Gage, Mason Gage, Chevelle Gage, Cailee Gage, Parker Gage, and Emma-Kate Gage; great-great-grandchildren Briar Gage and Maverick Trumbly; 2 sisters and a sister-in-law; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Steve Weger, Nathan Stone, Lucas Gage, Ethan Trumbly, Jaron Gage, and Jax Gage. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Weger and Mason Gage.
