Sherman
Billie Jo Belknap, age 82, of Sherman, TX passed away peacefully at the hospital, with her loved ones by her side on Monday, November 4, 2024. Billie was born on October 27, 1942, in Sherman, Texas to William Cleveland Holloway and Agnes Marie Holloway. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1961 and then married her soulmate, William Lewis Belknap, on June 1, 1961, in Sherman, Texas.
She lived a full life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Billie was a dedicated cafeteria worker for Howe ISD and took great pride in her work. She was renowned for her yeast rolls, and through the decades, hundreds of students looked forward to seeing her at lunchtime. After she retired from the cafeteria it did not slow Billie down. She remained as active and passionate as ever, continuing to pursue her interests and spending time around children. She then began working at Wee School Learning Center in Howe as an assistant and continued caring for children for many years. Above all she cherished watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow up. Her love for her family was evident in every moment she spent nurturing and supporting them. Watching her family thrive and flourish was one of the greatest joys in her life.
Billie was a lifetime resident of Sherman, Texas. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, and traveling. She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed making pajamas for the family every Christmas. Most important to her was her love for the church. She was a member of the Center St. Church of Christ in Sherman where she lovingly supported Lewis in his role as an elder. Billie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her absence will leave a void in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter: Kimberly Palmer & husband Greg of Royse City, Tx, her eight grandchildren: Meghan Davis, Emily Holt, Hannah Holt, Bethanie Holt, Chase Palmer, Kaley Palmer, Anna Grace Palmer, Cara Palmer, six great grandsons, one great granddaughter, other extended family, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents: William Holloway and Agnes Holloway, her husband William Lewis Belknap, her daughter Susan Marie Holt, and brother Michael Holloway.
