Barbara "Babs" left this earthly life on March 19, 2025, at her home in Calera, Oklahoma surrounded by family to enter the kingdom of God at the age of 87 years. She was born in Winnsboro, Tx. on July 4th, 1937, to Morris Bolton and Mary Lee (Price) Bolton. She married the love of her life, William "Bill" Gowen on June 5th, 1953. She first met him at the skating rink in Winnsboro, Tx and the rest is history! Together they had 4 children: Mary Ann, William "Bill", George, and Jimmy.

Barbara spent her life dedicated to being a homemaker and raising her four beautiful children. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and in the few days before her death she spoke of how much she wanted to go "Home" to be with Him. From the early 70's she filled her time being one of the best seamstress's around. When she wasn't sewing, she could be found cooking a meal every Sunday after church for the family to gather. She was an extremely patient and kind soul whom everyone that met adored. Her bright eyes and beautiful smile filled everyone who got the privilege of seeing it with warmth. She loved watching the children/grandchildren play and never missed an event! She loved nature and never missed an opportunity to be at the cabin riding 4-wheelers with her family. It will be very difficult to continue this life without her, but we all know she is in the best place imaginable. She was reunited with her beloved husband "Bill" and is now healed! The family wants to thank Jennifer, Beverly, and Ericka with Mays Home Hospice, TMC's second, fourth, and seventh floor staff, as well as The Woodlands staff who were all very kind, attentive, and caring to our Mom. Without all of you we would not have gotten the time or care we had with her at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Mary Lee Bolton, Spouse William "Bill" Gowen, and siblings Butch Bolton, Ned Bolton, Pearl Doris Freeman, Mary Ellen Dickenson, Marbry "Cookie" Ball.

Barbara is survived by her children: Mary Ann Morrison and husband Gary of Calera Oklahoma; son's William "Bill" Gowen of Colbert, Oklahoma; George Gowen and fiancé Lisa Jackson of Colbert Oklahoma; and Jimmy Gowen and wife Sarah of Colbert Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Kenny Morrison and wife Nicole, Veronica Oaks and husband Barrett, Chase Gowen and wife Jessie, Justin Gowen and wife Angela, Ericka Stewart and husband Joe, Kiersten Jerden and husband Josh, Jenna Brott and husband Eli, Teryn Gowen, Sierra Soder, Madison Avila and husband Dylan, and Jordan Gardner and wife Audra. Great Grandchildren: Tyler Morrison, Brooklyn Oaks, Braylen Oaks, Jordyn Oaks, Liam Gowen, Lily Gowen, Angel Luree Wilson, Josh Wilson, Kody Wilson, Angel Gowen, Sofira Gowen, Briaunna Stewart, Laira Stewart, Kenzie Moore, Izzy Moore, Riley Strout, Taylyn Brott, Analee Brott, Dominick Moore, Rowyn Avila and Jovie Moore. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church of Colbert, Oklahoma towards their building fund.

Funeral service will be Monday, March 24, 2025, 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, Colbert, OK with Terry Bolton officiating.  Interment will follow at Garden of memory cemetery, Colbert, OK.  Family and friends visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2025, 6 - 8 P.M. at American Chapel, Colbert, OK.

Pallbearers will be Justin Gowen, Dominik Moore, Barrett Oaks, Braylen Oaks, Chase Gowen and Carter Hannah.
